About this deal
ESC: This is the connection between the radio system and the motor. You have two choices - the Tamiya Hobbywing unit which will take much more powerful motors, or the Carson Dragster (from Tamiya Germany) which will take many upgrades still, is waterproof and a very reliable unit. The Hobbywing unit has a very good reputation with modellers and has a higher capacity allowing faster motors to be used at a later date. Both units feature electronic brakes. The Tamiya Hobbywing ESC is included in the price, the Carson Waterproof one is just a few pounds more. Thank you for the numbers and the finned grooves tip - very helpful. I will note these down and source some parts soon enough. 🙂
Running brushless on NiMh isn;t really worth doing. You won't see the benefit really. Running your brushed motor on LiPo, though, would mean you get a lot less voltage dropoff. Might wear your motor out faster though.....
TOOLS
If you go brushless, so for a fairly mild setup. The MadBull driveline isn;t really intended to take a lot of power, and you will run into gearing issues. Battery: The higher the number, the longer the run time. The 1800 battery is included in the price. Charger: You can choose to upgrade the charger - the mini peak (auto cut off) charger will take 2 to 3 hours depending on the battery, the Mistral 5 Amp Charger from 25 minutes depending on the battery, and the Etronix Fast Charger somewhere in-between. The basic USB charger is included in the price.
Lug pattern 115mm diameter tires work with the plentiful suspension stroke to ensure an awesome offroad drive. A great 2WD Model for the first time user. Easy to assemble and run. Kit includes a standard 540 type motor and an electronic speed control. Suspension: Front Swing Arm, Rear Rolling Rigid ★Friction Dampers ★Gear Ratio = 9.33:1 ★Type 540 Motor Tire Width/Diameter: 68/115mm (Front & Rear) ★Monocoque Frame ★Rear-Wheel Drive ★3-Piece Steering Tie-Rod I was also afraid the driveline won't hold up if I go too crazy with a brushless/LiPo setup. Good to know NiMh/brushless is not worth it so I might give a LiPo/brushed (current one) a go until it goes and then go for a brushless upgrade altogether! Not too fussed to keep the original motor running anyways. It features a molded plastic single-seater body, with parts included to recreate a driver for figure for that extra touch of realism. The rear-wheel drive chassis is constructed around a tough monocoque frame, sporting front swing arm and rear rolling rigid suspension setups. Lug pattern 115mm diameter tires work with the plentiful suspension stroke to ensure an awesome offroad drive. Great news for those looking to save a bit of time on the assembly - wheels are attached to tires, friction dampers come pre-assembled, and uprights are connected to the steering linkage, too!
