About this deal
In The Lightning Thief, Percy bitterly thinks that his father should be able to just make a phone appear to call him. In this book, Poseidon does in fact call Percy on a mortal landline and Percy suspects that Poseidon plugged his phone straight into the undersea transatlantic cable which gives Poseidon very good reception. Go to areas that people barely visit and collect the chests to get the chalice easier, examples of places are Port Town and Great Tree. Trolls upset by the casting rallied to have the 12-year-old's TikTok account banned, prompting Riordan to defend her casting. "If you have a problem with this casting, take it up with me," he said. "You have no one else to blame. More news soon, and thanks as always to my terrific readers. It has been a thrill to write in Percy’s voice again, and a great honor to know that these books have been part of your lives!
Dalla prima alla quinta superiore, il campo mezzosangue è stata la mia costante e il mio posto sicuro. Apollo compliments Percy's victories against Kronos and Gaea before going on a tangent and comparing Percy's physique to his own. At the end of the letter, Apollo mentions that Zeus wants to speak with him about something of "critical importance," presumably Apollo's trials. The first task is to help Ganymede, Zeus’s cupbearer, retrieve his golden goblet before it falls into the wrong hands. You see, one sip from it can turn a mortal into a god, and Zeus would not be pleased with that result. Can Percy and his friends Grover and Annabeth find the precious cup in time? And if they do, will they be able to resist its special power? Chalice is meant to be a standalone for now. It was originally one of three ideas I had for Percy’s senior year adventures, so it’s possible I could write the other two at some point in the future. That really depends on what my schedule ends up looking like in the next few years. As you probably know, the film and TV adaptations have been consuming a great deal of my time over the last two years.Short answer: To celebrate the upcoming Percy TV show! Disney Publishing asked me what kind of tie-in books we could market for the show, and Chalice of the Gods was my idea as a ‘thank you’ to fans who have waited so long for a great adaptation. If you are one of the many readers who have asked me over the years for a new Percy/Annabeth/Grover adventure, this is for you!
He has assured fans that a repeat of the 2010 and 2013 movies will not be the case for the new Disney+ show which will premiere in December 2023. Riordan says that the show will finally deliver a faithful adaptation and that it is the depiction of Percy on screen that everyone has been waiting for. Aristaeus' starts out nice before he turns hostile after having learned that Percy is going around asking everyone for help, including Delphin. The mission? Help Ganymede, Zeus’s cup-bearer, retrieve his lost goblet before it falls into the wrong hands. You see, one sip from it can turn a mortal into a god, and Zeus would not be pleased with that result. Can Percy, Grover, and Annabeth find the precious cup in time? And if they do, will they be able to resist its special power? Finalmente avevo trovato una saga da attendere e divorare, ogni anno aspettavo con ansia l'uscita dei nuovi capitoli della saga.We haven’t nailed down any details, but probably, yes. As I said, the book is meant to be a ‘thank you’ to fans and a celebration of the TV series, so we are timing Chalice to come out shortly before the series airs. (But again, exactly when the series airs has not been determined yet. Stay tuned for that.) When I know more details, I will post them here on my blog!
Athena, who created the cap in the first place, is completely immune to its powers, but she chooses to help Percy rather than exposing him. Naomi the cloud nymph appears to be immune to its powers and scowls at the cap in a way that suggests that invisibility hats are rude in her kitchen and ineffective. However, she also appears to be unable to recognize that Percy's a demigod, asking if he's a god when Percy first shows up.

I really love the fact that these are low stakes. I think the readers (at least the ones like me who’ve been on this journey for a decade) have followed so many books and series with pretty high stakes that now we really want our favorite characters to just… chill. Of course, they’re demigods, and as Percy warned us early on, being a half-blood is dangerous. They ain’t getting rest. THE CONTINUITY CURSE This means Mount Olympus is virtually unguarded, so Percy and an army of young demigods must stop the Lord of Time. All the while, the long-awaited prophecy surrounding Percy’s sixteenth birthday unfolds. And can we talk about Annabeth trolling Percy into skipping while shooting rainbows? Because I was laughing so hard I cried.
Let's not forget that the reason Percy wants to get into New Rome University is because he loves Annabeth and wants to go to college with her. This man is willing to be trolled by the gods over and over just to be with her. (No wonder middle school me made such high standards.) This part had me actually screaming: The half-bloods have been preparing for battle against the Titans all year, even though they know their chances of victory are grim. Meanwhile, the Olympians are struggling to contain the monster Typhon and Kronos has begun to advance on New York City. You know you’ve been a demigod too long when you’re flushed out of your school straight into the Atlantic Ocean and you’re not even surprised.” That’s because the flow may feel disrupted with the short stories that are scattered throughout the timeline. As well, since Riordan was writing multiple series over the span of many years, there is overlap throughout the universe with events taking place at the same time. Some of the short stories are also hard to place within the timeline, because trying to line up seasons, ages, and events within the overall timeline with the main books can be challenging. Are you kidding?” He grinned at Annabeth. “A chance to do quests, just the three of us? Like old times? The Three Musketeers!” Can Percy and his friends Annabeth and Grover find the chalice before it falls into the wrong hands? And even if they do, will they be able to resist its awesome power. . .? I will be doing a brief North American tour for the book in the fall, as I have done in the past (pre-Covid). Unfortunately, I don’t have the time or bandwidth to do an international tour. My apologies to my global readers! Hopefully we will be able to offer some of the US events on line if you want to join us from abroad. As soon as I have details on the tour, I will post them on my blog. The stakes are not high at all in this book but the fun is still there. There is no imminent danger to the world but maybe to Percy's college applications there is. We see the OG trio unite and it's like they were never apart. Grover, Annabeth and Percy make anything fun. Some of the things they mentioned were clearly meant for nostalgic purposes (I wish they would've included the dam joke). And I loved all the little nods to the past events - very simple, very distinctive, but very much of import to Percy's current journey. I appreciated that the Greek gods included this time around were of limited capacity, but even the trip to Zeus was fabulously done! Each of their adventures were written with great zeal and I really did have a smile on my face as they made their way through the tough waters to get to the ultimate prize. 🏆🏆 And while it is targeted for younger audiences, there is something very nostalgic to this installment. You'll see it with each self-reflection that Percy is enlightened with - that moment that deeply resonates with what is his purpose in life - other than the debt he owes for existing - for being a child of one of the Big Three.' 😔
