About this deal

Amber Greer’s son’s life may have been spared that night, but he was not the same boy who went into the lake.

The adult characters have the same traits as the children, so they come off delusional, immature, and annoying af. Isaac goes missing soon after and the investigators think its a serial killer who has been taking young boys.I felt the dual POV's that were relatively opposing to each other really kept the intensity up throughout the story and you never fully knew who to trust.

began to deny this relationship, even more damaging news came out, ultimately forcing him to resign as president of Liberty University, which many consider to be the largest evangelical Christian university in the world. All the usual signposts of inattentiveness, lack of intervention, faulty parental skills, and hard denial are spilling out at a rapid rate.I get that she went through something super traumatic that is impossible to relate to, but that direction was just too much. It seemed like she was there to demonstrate different symptoms of severe trauma as part of a training manual or something. Instead of events building on top of one another, the novel felt like it's constantly restarting on a new idea, and disregard everything prior as useless misdirection.

Having now completed ARC readings of both of these books about Christians speaking about their religion, I can definitely see why Merritt's work. If you're like me, you're damn near desperate for any distraction from the constant fighting in "the" "real" world. Wes and Finn were such easy characters to fall in love with, and each chapter had me eager and excited to experience their HEA journey together! Emily touched on a topic that most people don’t or didn’t take into consideration with athletes until recent years. Instead we get all kinds of irrelevant details such as kid sister sleeping in the bed with her parents over fears of the “rampaging kidnapper/ serial killer”, among other completely irrelevant details that are never really explored or shown why they are crucial to the story being told. Full disclosure: I am/was not on her hype squad for this book, but will forever hype her and her books up.

I didn't like the inappropriate relationship that Jules had developed with Isaac, nor did I like what was revealed in the end. Join our community to get personalised book suggestions, extracts straight to your inbox, 10% off RRPs, and to change children’s lives. In the last 20-25% of the book, so many things were thrown in, I just couldn't wade through them all.

The Secrets of Us is an unputdownable page-turner with two compelling female protagonists that will keep readers on their toes. Idk how to explain it but it felt like in Finn’s POV read like he was writing the article, idk if that makes sense. It all began with two mothers, Amber and Jules, and two sons, Gabe and Isaac, but what happened, and how did it end? No missing or damaged pages, no creases or tears, no underlining or highlighting of text, and no writing in the margins. The result in some instances was bloodthirsty mutinies, such as the whaleboat Sharon whose captain was butchered and fed to the ship's pigs in a crazed attack in the Pacific.
